چکیده

Inelastic transport through double quantum dot systems with coupling between electronic and vibrational degrees of freedom is examined by means of a master equation approach. The current and the conductance are analyzed for both weak and strong interdot couplings. The results show that an asymmetry in the current–voltage characteristic and appearance of negative differential conductance due to electron–phonon interaction. The influence of temperature on the current is studied and found that increasing temperature gives rise to eliminating the current blockade and, thus, removing the Coulomb diamonds in the conductance spectra. & 2011 Elsevier B.V. Phonons and Phonon Confinement in Transport through Double Quantum Dots

We calculate the electron–phonon interaction coefficients for surface acoustic waves and for phonons in free standing quantum wells. These are used to derive the inelastic current through a double quantum dot caused by spontaneous emission of phonons. For the case of the free standing structure (phonon cavity), we predict a staircase–like inelastic current superimposed by van Hove singularities...

Effect of asymmetric quantum dot rings in electron transport through a quantum wire

The electronic conductance at zero temperature through a quantum wire with side-connected asymmetric quantum ring (as a scatter system) is theoretically studied using the non-interacting Hamiltonian Anderson tunneling method. In this paper we concentrate on the configuration of the quantum dot rings. We show that the asymmetric structure of QD-scatter system strongly influences the amplitude an...

1 N ov 2 00 2 SHOT NOISE OF COTUNNELING CURRENT

We study the noise of the cotunneling current through one or several tunnel-coupled quantum dots in the Coulomb blockade regime. The various regimes of weak and strong, elastic and inelastic cotunneling are analyzed for quantum-dot systems (QDS) with few-level, nearly-degenerate, and continuous electronic spectra. In the case of weak cotunneling we prove a non-equilibrium fluctuation-dissipatio...

Probing confined phonon modes by transport through a nanowire double quantum dot.

Strong radial confinement in semiconductor nanowires leads to modified electronic and phononic energy spectra. We analyze the current response to the interplay between quantum confinement effects of the electron and phonon systems in a gate-defined double quantum dot in a semiconductor nanowire. We show that current spectroscopy of inelastic transitions between the two quantum dots can be used ...
